Please note that this is MY opinion

I hear that next week is Valentine’s Day. It’s everywhere. All the stores are full of pink heart-shaped chocolate boxes. Even the spam mail is full of hearts.
I have to admit, I don’t care much for this day. There are many reasons.
For one, it’s all about buying presents and being romantic, no matter what.
Maybe I also don’t like it because I only “celebrated” it once, and my boyfriend at that time gave me a box of chocolate (which I don’t like) and a book (because I like reading). I should also mention that the book was called “Alien Resurrection”.

But the main reason is because I think it’s stupid.

I don’t believe that a random date, set by someone else can be special for you and your partner.

I guess I’m not what people would call a romantic.

I don’t believe in soul mates.
I don’t believe that there’s only one right person out there for everyone.
I don’t believe in love at first sight or endless love.
Eventually you get over it. Sometimes you need to work hard, but you can find love again.

The story of “Romeo and Juliet” is not romantic to me.

Someone who says:”I will love you forever” will not be taken serious.

Before anyone says it:
I have loved. I have loved so much that it hurt. I had my heart broken. I know what love is. I even know unconditional love.

When I was a teenager I could spend hours day dreaming about my prince on the white horse. But I got older and more realistic. Life’s not that way.

I guess I’m too realistic to be a true romantic.
But I do have to admit, I still find myself day dreaming. But I stop myself, because life is never the way it is in my dreams.

I don’t need one day in the year to show the person I love that I do love him. My actions should show is every day.

I agree with You, essentially; but You can’t suppress the Dreams of the Children, of any sex, or denomination …
For me, I dream altogether, of meeting some miraculous creature: for the Princess, I have Her, of Cameroon origin, great-grand-daughter of a last local King, and cousin of Yannick Noah, and Princess Erika … and widow of a very famous boxing champion …
    What a marvellous Universe! !
