Never Have I ever…
…eaten a Fluffernutter Sandwich.
In October, Michael and I were talking and he was trying to find out what I like to eat. He was especially interested in my liking of sweet things. He seems to have this idea that one day he will find something to bake for me. Unfortunately for him, I’m really not into most sweet things or cake in general or chocolate.
There we were. He was naming things and I kept saying “Yeah, that’s alright” or “Not so much”. Most of the things he named excited me much. He also named foods and dishes I have never heard of, so he needed to explain them to me. Different cultures and all.
What he does is that he finds one ingredient I like and thinks of dishes that have that ingredient.
Early that day we went shopping and got peanut butter, as he was craving it. As he was later cooking and I stood there, not telling him how to do thing the right way, I felt that I was hungry and wanted to have just a little something to pass the time till dinner. So I took a spoon, opened the peanut butter jar and took a spponfull of said peanut butter. He looked to me and asked me what I just did. I told him, he smiled and said that he loved me even more because of that. We didn’t finish that peanut butter and I took it with me.
As I said, we were in bed later, talking about food and he mentioned the Fluffernutter Sandwich. He described it and I admit, I was intrigued. It has peanut butter and Marshmallow Fluff. Both good things.
Yesterday I was shoppping for groceries and also stopped at a few other stores. One of them was an American store. They have all kinds of stuff I can’t get anywhere really. There I also got Marshmallow Fluff, because I remembered that he’d mentioned some snack involving it. I asked and he sent me a recipe.
What can I say? It was weird. The texture the combination of tastes. I had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before and they weren’t too bad. Not something I’d eat every day, but quite alright and tasty. But that was ok from the first time I tried.
With that sandwich, I’m not so sure. It wasn’t so bad that I’d say I will never have it again. I might give it another try.
It was the same with sushi. So maybe there’s hope.
See who else is trying something for the first time:
